Spring has arrived. Did you do the maintenance of the asphalt mixing plant last winter? Maintenance is an important part of ensuring the normal operation, reduced failure rate, and extended service life of mixing equipment. After a long winter shutdown and lack of maintenance during construction, various oils, lubrication protection, and key parts of asphalt mixing equipment may undergo changes. If the equipment is not thoroughly inspected in a timely manner before being started and put into operation, problems such as poor equipment operation will inevitably occur, which will shorten the service life of the equipment and affect the progress of the project. Unlike in the south, heavy snow is common in winter in northern China, especially in the northeast region. At the same time, the winter shutdown period can last for more than 5 months. The cold climate conditions will pose severe challenges to the use of asphalt mixing plants. In order to ensure the smooth use of asphalt equipment in harsh weather conditions, snow prevention and maintenance measures are crucial to ensure the smooth production of the following spring. In addition to requiring users and service engineers to master some essential product maintenance knowledge in cold weather, the following are some tips for winter maintenance of asphalt equipment in Northeast China. Did you do it this way last winter?

1. The bearings on the equipment that require regular lubrication should be filled with lubricating grease or the oil filling port should be covered to prevent rainwater from seeping into the bearings and causing corrosion.  

2. All motors and burners are covered with waterproof cloth to prevent snow and moisture.

3. In winter, the mixing plant may become a winter shelter for mice. The locations of cable trays, control rooms, etc. should be well protected against mice, and if necessary, sticky boards or rodenticides should be placed.

4. During production, the belts need to be tensioned, and after winter, each belt needs to be adjusted to a loose position to prevent cracking or deformation caused by thermal expansion and contraction.

5. The cold storage bin, hot storage bin, and various dust bins should be emptied to prevent clumping when wet.

6. The dust collector should be cleaned properly, and leak proof and waterproof measures should be taken after installation to prevent the bag from getting damp.

7. If it is a municipal station that still needs production after mid to late October, the lubricating oil of each reducer should be replaced with the corresponding winter specific oil.

Proper maintenance and standardized operation can not only reduce equipment failures, but also minimize unnecessary losses, greatly extending equipment lifespan and reducing operating costs. Large mechanical equipment such as asphalt mixing equipment are most afraid of malfunctions that may affect production and supply. In order to reduce equipment failure rates and ensure the quality of asphalt concrete, maintenance work is essential, especially maintenance before winter each year and equipment maintenance before starting work, which are necessary links to ensure that the equipment always operates in good condition.
